In cooperation with Korean tech company NeoLab, LAMY launches an optoelectronic writing system. The new LAMY Safari All Black Ncode Digital Writing Set bridges the gap between the paper notebook as we know it and the unlimited possibilities of digital writing. Combining both worlds: the comfort of analogue writing on paper, with all the advantages of digital storage and processing.
This set contains the LAMY Safari All Black Ncode Smartpen and LAMY Digital Paper Notebook for Ncode. In combination with the Neo Studio App and its numerous functions, it lets you write on paper and simultaneously digitize your handwritten material, then edit as you choose.
Please note: The LAMY Safari All Black Ncode Smartpen is only compatible with the LAMY Digital Paper Notebook, and vice versa.
The Neo Studio App is only available for Android as a free download from Google Play™ or App Store™.
Digital writing system
The LAMY Safari All Black Ncode Smartpen writes just like a traditional ballpoint would. However, it is equipped with Ncode Technology. In online mode, the pen is connected via Bluetooth to the Neo Studio App on your device of choice. Everything written down in the LAMY Digital Paper Notebook for Ncode is transmitted in real time and visible on your chosen device. In offline mode, every word, sketch or drawing is stored in the pen itself: there is a digital copy of all your notes and ideas.

Digital paper notebook
The LAMY Digital Paper Notebook for Ncode also comes with NeoLAB’s proprietary Ncode Technology. Each page contains a tiny pattern - barely visible to the naked eye. These codes hold information unique to each page, including pen position. Every stroke made with the smartpen is saved, creating a complete digital copy of the notebook with all the options you could need for working on that text in the future.

Writing should be so simple that you don’t even have to think about it. The pen just slips into your hand and your thought comes out, and then you move to the next thing. LAMY make just the right sort of pen for this: unpretentious workhorses that have been designed to be used anytime, anywhere, as unobtrusively as possible.
Founded by Josef Lamy in 1930, LAMY came into its own in the ashes of post-war Germany with the LAMY 27, an innovative fountain pen that ran counter to the more ornate tastes of the day. In 1966, they followed this up by releasing the controversially minimalist LAMY 2000, designed by ex-Braun designer Gerd A. Müller. With the Safari’s release in 1980, the company had become the quintessential brand for schoolchildren and youths throughout Germany, and soon enough through most of Western Europe.
This success is due in no small part to LAMY’s particular attention to the ergonomics of their pens. Many models — but most notably the Safari — have been designed to fit readily into the hand, with well positioned grips that reduce strain around the muscles and joints in your hand. This means that it’s easy to hold them and write for long periods of time, making them ideal for uses in schools, meetings and old-fashioned letter writing.
We’re proud to stock a selection of the best LAMY designs in our shop online. You can also come and have a scribble with them in our Amsterdam store.
