In this book, acclaimed and beloved photographer Joel Meyerowitz takes readers on a journey through the power and magic of photography: its abilities to freeze time, tell a story, combine several layers into one frame, and record life’s fleeting and beautiful moments. The book features the work of masters such as William Eggleston, Mary Ellen Mark, Helen Levitt, and Walker Evans, among many others.

Each picture is accompanied by a short commentary, encouraging readers to look closely and use their imagination to understand key ideas in photography such as light, gesture, composition—and, ultimately, how there is wonder all around us when viewed through the lens.

Joel Meyerowitz (born in New York, 1938) is an award-winning photographer whose work has appeared in over 350 exhibitions in museums and galleries around the world. He is a two-time Guggenheim Fellow, a recipient of both National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities awards, and a recipient of the Deutscher Fotobuchpreis. He has published over fifteen books and lives in New York.

“Sometimes in a brief moment, you see something beautiful where you didn’t expect it.” —Joel Meyerowitz

Misc-Store Amsterdam introduces: Misc Mini

A new adventure with Misc Mini!
Here at Misc, we’ve got some exciting news: we’re starting a big new adventure by launching Misc Mini, our first collection of kids’ stationery.

Learning to play as a child is a skill you keep your whole life. Through play, kids can learn to re-arrange and surprise; to turn things topsy-turvy and right way up! Whether they’re telling stories with princesses and goblins or drawing fantastic faces in unexpected places, play helps kids to explore the world that we all occupy together.

All they need to get going is a bit of paper, some pencils and a little place to sit. To this end, we’ve hand-picked a range of great kids’ stationery, furniture and books, with an emphasis on high-quality materials and forms that are just right for the little ones among us.

Give them a great place to play — browse Misc Mini online today!

Misc Store supports
climate change solutions &
plants a tree for every order

Importing from countries as far as Japan & shipping worldwide has more of an impact than we would like. That is why we plant a tree for every order + we plant an additional 2 trees each day.

Furthermore, we offset the individual carbon footprint of our staff, including travel per individual under 8,000 km by car or 2 short-haul return flights annually, by funding climate change solutions through Ecologi.
A selection of these climate projects are shown here.
