What do you think about when you choose furniture for your office? What materials is a piece made of, how does it sit in space? Does it complement — or contrast — with its surroundings? What will it look like in 5 years, or 10 years, or a generation from now? “It’s alright to wait for the right object to come, instead of going to a warehouse and buying all your furniture,” says Frama co-founder Niels Strøyer Christophersen. He’s talking about his elegant Copenhagen apartment, but he may as well be talking Frama Studio’s attitude to design.
Developing their ranges slowly and carefully, Frama take years to flesh the tiniest of details out. The resulting furniture forms look just as elegant against the confines 19th-century drawing room as they might against a rolling Zaha Hadid hyperspace, using natural Nordic materials to blend mid-century modern sensibilities with contemporary innovations. It’s a down-to-earth attitude, and we’re perfectly charmed by the approach. Looking for a piece that will last for years is an important endeavour. Understanding the fine details of what makes a piece timeless is something that Frama has down to an art.
We’re thrilled to be stocking carefully selected office furniture from Frama’s catalogue in our Amsterdam store and online. We love their tactile, thoughtful approach to what a working space can look like, and for us, we think the right object might have just come.
