This MD Tote Bag Chita Cotton is an ultra-versatile single-strap bag. The bag can hold all your work items, it's also suitable for carrying a laptop. Midori made sure the strap is just the right length to add and remove items easily.
This simple yet iconic bag is made in the same spirit as Midori's MD Notebooks; simple, modest and of the highest quality. On the outside a tag-style leather pen holder is placed. Simply insert pens in the holder on the outside of the bag and you’ll be able to start writing the moment inspiration strikes - no more searching for your pen case!

MD Notebook Bag & MD Tote Bag Chita Cotton
The Midori MD Notebook Bag Chita Cotton and Midori MD Tote Bag Chita Cotton are made from Chita cotton, a fabric that has been woven in the Chita Peninsula of Aichi prefecture since the Edo period (1603-1868). Even today, fabric is spun using shuttle looms that were adopted during the Meiji period (1868-1912). The fabric is produced in traditional Japanese rolls of cloth measuring 38cm wide, and the narrow size adds to the minimalistic style that MD is known for. The simple look belies incredible quality - the moment you touch this thin, soft fabric, you can tell that it’s made from extremely finely woven cotton. The fabric is made using a unique method called tussah weaving, where a single thread is woven vertically and layered with two thin threads horizontally to create cotton whose horizontal ridges create a subtle pattern.

About MD PAPER PRODUCTS
MD PAPER PRODUCTS are simple, Japan-made products and Midori’s pride when it comes to the art of making paper.
Not only the paper itself has been developed carefully, also the method of binding deserves an explanation. The MD Notebooks are bound by means of stitching; a large sheet of paper is folded into a bundle of 16 pages. Then, such bundles are bound with thread. This method enables the notebook to open entirely flat, ensuring ease of writing, without a bumpy middle.
To honor this method of binding, Midori has left the cover uncovered, so its spine exposes the cheesecloth tape, which is used to reinforce the bound paper.
Being a stationery manufacturer from the 1950’s, MD PAPER PRODUCTS can be described as part of Midori's blueprint. Ever since Midori made MD PAPER in the 1960’s, they have applied the Japanese ‘Kaizen’ principle, meaning they are continuously looking for ways to improve its quality.
