TRAVELER'S COMPANY CARAVAN 20th Anniversary Is Coming to Amsterdam
Ten years ago, we hosted our first TRC Viking in Amsterdam. Now we get to do it again.
In 2016, our little store on De Clercqstraat hosted the very first TRAVELER'S COMPANY Viking event in Amsterdam. The concept was the same as what is coming this October — a paper buffet, a choice of covers, a refill made just for you. What we did not expect was the room.
The windows fogged up. The store, which was usually quiet on a Saturday afternoon, was suddenly full of people who had been waiting for exactly this. One moment has stayed with us. A customer came in with his girlfriend, now the mother of his children. He was barely able to contain himself, darting between the papers, knowing exactly what he wanted. She looked on, politely, the way partners sometimes do when confronted with an enthusiasm they do not yet share. We have all been there.
But then she made one herself. And something shifted. By the time she left, she was more excited than he was.
That is what this workshop does. It is very difficult to explain why choosing paper matters. It is very easy to understand once you have done it.
We still see people using those notebooks from 2016. And over the years, many of them have asked us: when is this happening again? The answer is October 31 and November 1, at Molen van West in Amsterdam.

We co-host the European leg of the TRAVELER'S COMPANY CARAVAN 20th Anniversary — together with the TRC team themselves. We hope you will come.

The DIY Workshop: a paper buffet
The heart of the event is a workshop like we have hosted before.
Imagine a buffet, but instead of food, it is paper. Thirty-nine different types of paper, laid out for you to explore: papers in colour, papers with cloud patterns, papers in different weights, papers with cotton, papers with silk, papers so soft they feel like marshmallow. You take your time, you touch things, you decide what belongs to you.

Then you choose your cover - nine options - and hand your selection to the TRC team, who bind your personal refill on the spot. You leave with something that nobody else in the world has.
Tickets for the DIY workshop are limited to 200 per day, one per person. They are there to be reserved in advance — do not leave it too late.

There is more to the day than the workshop
Entry to the venue is free, with no ticket required. Which means even if the DIY sessions are fully booked by the time you read this, there is still every reason to come.
Inside Molen van West, you will find:
The Stamp Caravan including special jubilee stamps made exclusively for the Amsterdam event. There will be separate event stamps in Berlin too, so if you plan to do both, you will have something unique from each city.
The History Wall twenty years of TRAVELER'S COMPANY, told through the objects, notebooks, and moments that shaped it. Worth spending time with.
The shop the full regular range, plus the 20th Anniversary special editions that have been travelling the world with the Caravan. 20th Anniversary exclusives, including the Baby TRAVELER'S noteboo: a miniature leather notebook featuring Baby Traveler, the icon of this anniversary year, and four limited edition refills that will not be available anywhere else.
The TRC team will be there in person, walking the floor.
Amsterdam, 31 October — 1 November
We chose the date deliberately. Halloween weekend in Amsterdam is one of the city's more atmospheric moments. A little strange, a little festive, entirely itself. It felt right for an event that celebrates twenty years of notebooks made for people who pay attention to the world around them.
Molen van West is in the western harbour of Amsterdam — a former industrial site that has become one of the city's most interesting cultural spaces.

Berlin follows on 6 — 7 November
After Amsterdam, the Caravan moves to Berlin. Different city, different stamps, same spirit. If you are considering doing both, the dates work well as a short European trip.
