Through a simple narrative and rhythmic sequence of photographs, the book raises multiple meanings, making the experience of reading the book interactive—parent and child must ask questions and come up with their own answers, drawing on the child’s imagination. Each spread presents a new relationship that changes and shifts as the book unfolds, with the last picture relating again to the first, forming a circle. Through playful and inspired sequencing, everyday scenes are transformed into a game of pairs, enjoyable for adults and children alike.

“This Equals That is printed like a children’s board book, with rounded edges and durable pages to make it a durable, child-friendly object. But its lessons aren’t limited to the young: how simple and powerful it is to recognize that a triangle and a shark are the same shape, that everything we can see is somehow connected to each other?” —Spectrum Culture, June 16, 2015

Misc-Store Amsterdam introduces: Misc Mini

A new adventure with Misc Mini!

Here at Misc, we’ve got some exciting news: we’re starting a big new adventure by launching Misc Mini, our first collection of kids’ stationery.

Learning to play as a child is a skill you keep your whole life. Through play, kids can learn to re-arrange and surprise; to turn things topsy-turvy and right way up! Whether they’re telling stories with princesses and goblins or drawing fantastic faces in unexpected places, play helps kids to explore the world that we all occupy together.

All they need to get going is a bit of paper, some pencils and a little place to sit. To this end, we’ve hand-picked a range of great kids’ stationery, furniture and books, with an emphasis on high-quality materials and forms that are just right for the little ones among us.

Give them a great place to play — browse Misc Mini online today!

Misc Store supports
climate change solutions &
plants a tree for every order

Importing from countries as far as Japan & shipping worldwide has more of an impact than we would like. That is why we plant a tree for every order + we plant an additional 2 trees each day.

Furthermore, we offset the individual carbon footprint of our staff, including travel per individual under 8,000 km by car or 2 short-haul return flights annually, by funding climate change solutions through Ecologi.
A selection of these climate projects are shown here.
