After years of tasting dishes and reviewing pretty much every restaurant in Amsterdam, culinary journalists and sisters Famke & Floor van Praag have compiled a list of their all-time favourites. This beautifully designed cookbook focuses on 20 beloved restaurants in the city. Places where the food and wine are exceptional, the vibe is bustling, and the warm-hearted staff leave nothing to chance.
This cookbook is a genuine homage to these uncompromising places, with stunning photos by renowned photography duo Petrovsky & Ramone. Floor and Famke van Praag, the sisters behind the cookbook series Shortlist Amsterdam, have been creating this series since 2016. For decades they wrote for various newspapers and magazines about the nice things in life, mainly food. Because at one point the sisteres noticed that many new restaurants were opening in the city, and as food writers could no longer keep track, they decided to put together a list of the places that really matter. No conceptual one-hit wonders or complicated celebrity affairs, but the nicest, original restaurants in Amsterdam that never bore.
