We love this Postalco Three Pen Case Black. Exquisite in its use of materials, this is a full leather pencase holding your dearest of pens.
There’s nothing worse than your favourite pencils going missing, ink spots in your handbag or pens poking holes in your clothes.
Postalco designed a single pocket case for an essential two or three pens, keeping your favourites safe in this elegant case. It fits comfortably in the hand and the grain leather will soften with use.
The Three Pencase is made with three kinds of leather; a crossgrain and calfskin exterior with a pigskin lining.
The leather ‘Crossgrain’ is named for the pattern embossed on the surface. These crossing lines help small scratches that inevitably to blend in. The strength and thickness of the leather makes the item very durable.
The Crossgrain and calfskin leather are both vegetable tanned, using tannins from the mimosa tree. It is more time consuming but toxic free and it produces beautiful leathers.
The lining is made of pigskin. Your eyes may not notice, but your hands certainly will. Pigskin feels great as a lining material and will last much longer than fabric linings.
A distinguishing mark of several Postalco products is the clever positioning of the stitching. Normally after long-term use the stitching often let loose at the ends, making it less durable. Postalco solved this problem by not sewing at the ends but keeping this area left open.
Delivered in a specially designed box perfect for save keeping and gift giving.
You detect something of a quest for perfection in Postalco’s work. A sliver of imagination that sticks itself into something not quite good enough and prises it open, revealing new territories within.
Postalco’s very first project began in just such an inquisitive way. Bag designer Mike Abelson found the bag of his partner, graphic designer Yuri Abelson, stuffed with awkwardly bent papers from her work. He set about making a better carry case for her papers, which resulted in the Postalco legal envelope. Soon enough, they packed their bags and swapped New York for Tokyo, in order to be closer to the artisans responsible for crafting their distinctive products.
Postalco products are often materially dependant, reflecting a precise history of the leather, brass, cotton and fabric with which they were made. We were drawn to these objects from the moment we saw them. From the moment we began stocking Postalco in 2010, we found the Ableson’s work special – touching in is desire for longevity and engaging in its aesthetic sensibility.
We’re a proud stockist of Postalco, and Misc Store has been carrying them since we first opened in Amsterdam. If you’re in the Netherlands, come and visit Misc Store to get a feel for these supremely tactile objects.

Misc Store supports
climate change solutions &
plants a tree for every order
Importing from countries as far as Japan & shipping worldwide has more of an impact than we would like. That is why we plant a tree for every order + we plant an additional 2 trees each day.
Furthermore, we offset the individual carbon footprint of our staff, including travel per individual under 8,000 km by car or 2 short-haul return flights annually, by funding climate change solutions through Ecologi.
A selection of these climate projects are shown here.
