Maroon Red Notebook A7

Postalco Maroon Red Notebook A7 is made in Japan and features a cotton pressed cover, 1mm pin-graph paper, a spiral ring and crisp clean cut edges. Adorned with Postalco’s carrier pigeon, we think their notebooks are one of the smartest around.

Postalco uses Starch-pressed cotton, which is bound to the cover. With time and use, the colours will lighten and the weave of the fabric will become more and more apparent. The pressed cotton fabric is treated to be water-resistant.

A nice detail is the positioning of the spiral ring. Instead of spiralling the paper at the edge of the paper, Postalco had it positioned just off the edge, on the top cover. This allows you to tuck away your notebook between your books in a book case in a classy way, with the spiral ring covered. It also allows you to write something on the spine.

We love the smallest Postalco Notebook Ivory A7 as a practical slip in the bag notepad, for your epiphanies on the go.

Features Postalco signature 1mm pingraph paper
Made in Japan

Postalco’s signature: 1mm pin-graph paper

The corners of the paper is cut in a 45 degrees angle. Besides the graphic element, it eases flipping over to the next page. The paper itself has a 1mm pin-graph paper, with the grid printed in a blue hue. The colour of the paper is almost soothing to the eyes, and serves as a very nice background for whatever scribbles or handwriting you fill this sheet with.

The grid makes it perfect to have a little more guidance to draw straight lines or write a line that is straight and not wavy. Yet, as the grid is this tiny, the paper easily presents itself as a blank sheet, without the boundaries that grid or lined paper may have.

About Postalco

You detect something of a quest for perfection in Postalco’s work. A sliver of imagination that sticks itself into something not quite good enough and prises it open, revealing new territories within.

Postalco’s very first project began in just such an inquisitive way. Bag designer Mike Abelson found the bag of his partner, graphic designer Yuri Abelson, stuffed with awkwardly bent papers from her work. He set about making a better carry case for her papers, which resulted in the Postalco legal envelope. Soon enough, they packed their bags and swapped New York for Tokyo, in order to be closer to the artisans responsible for crafting their distinctive products.

Material values
Postalco products are often materially dependant, reflecting a precise history of the leather, brass, cotton and fabric with which they were made. We were drawn to these objects from the moment we saw them. From the moment we began stocking Postalco in 2010, we found the Ableson’s work special – touching in is desire for longevity and engaging in its aesthetic sensibility.

We’re a proud stockist of Postalco, and Misc Store has been carrying them since we first opened in Amsterdam. If you’re in the Netherlands, come and visit Misc Store to get a feel for these supremely tactile objects.
