The Monocle Desk Organiser stacks, rearranges, unfolds. Designed with the geometric clarity common to many products from the Monocle Collection – one is put in mind of the utopian clarity of early English modernists, or the avant-garde utilitarianism of recent Japanese designers – the Monocle Desk Organiser is purpose-built for a flexible, vibrant desk. Its six modular compartments can be stacked this way or that. They have space for clips, letter-openers, or other loose items; gaps for pens, and a tray to put those sheaths of stray paper which grow on desks like lichen.

After having spent years documenting the art of stylish living, it was only a matter of time before Monocle turned their attention to domestic pleasures. Whether they’re working with craftsmen of rare and unusual excellence, like Kontex or Shoyeido, or designing their own elegant items, Monocle bring a passion for the beautiful. As retailers of Monocle in Amsterdam, we see Monocle crafting a link between the spirit modernist design: an interpretation of their global outlook that feels just right the presence of Monocle in the Netherlands. Monocle’s feel for finer things is applied to the smallest pleasures of everyday life – just the right amount of luxury.

From fledgling beginnings in London a decade ago, Monocle is now a cosmopolitain enterprise, with a decannual magazine, a 24-hour online radio show, press bureaux in six countries around the globe, and eight brick-and-mortar shops in six cities. Miscellaneous Store is the proud home of Monocle in the Netherlands. As the first retailer of Monocle in Amsterdam, we’re enormously pleased to have brought their range of notebooks, bags, carry cases, and carefully-made homewares to the Netherlands.

The Monocle Desk Organiser base is 360mm by 240mm, and with its stacked compartments, it rises to a maximal height of 190mm. Other items from the Monocle Collection include the Monocle Brass Incense Burner. You can also shop our full range of desk organisers.

The Monocle Desk Organiser is made in Japan from Hinoki cedar wood.

About Monocle

Monocle at Misc-store Amsterdam

The voice at the heart of Monocle is gentle, but authoritative. Reading its print magazine, or listening to one of its radio bulletins, is like listening to a friend – perhaps one a little bit older and wiser – as they narrate their adventures around the world in search of the best in life. It speaks confidently on a number of topics: business, politics, urban architecture, the state of modern journalism, the pleasures of fine cooking, or the mechanics of a beautiful watch. They’re attentive to the physical and mental pleasures of life. It’s an approach that makes ears prick up.

They’ve certainly found no shortage of willing listeners. More than a decade after their beginnings as a print magazine, Monocle now boasts press bureaux in six cities, its own creative agency, a 24-hour online radio station, a formidable book-publishing partner in Gestalten, cafés in London and Tokyo, and brick-and-mortar stores around the globe. We are honoured to be the first to represent Monocle in Amsterdam through Miscellaneous’ De Clerqstraat store. We share a deep appreciation not just for life, but for a life lived well. Miscellaneous Store will be the primary home of Monocle in the Netherlands, stocking a range of Monocle notebooks, organisers, bags, wallets, and scents.

Misc Store supports
climate change solutions &
plants a tree for every order

Importing from countries as far as Japan & shipping worldwide has more of an impact than we would like. That is why we plant a tree for every order + we plant an additional 2 trees each day.

Furthermore, we offset the individual carbon footprint of our staff, including travel per individual under 8,000 km by car or 2 short-haul return flights annually, by funding climate change solutions through Ecologi.
A selection of these climate projects are shown here.
