Done with 2021 and want to start making 2022 plans? Kokuyo Jibun Techo Mini White – First Kit 2022 is now available for pre-order at Misc-store Amsterdam. Shipping Mid September.
A Jibun Techo Mini White – First Kit 2022 is more like Mary Poppins’ magic carpet bag than a standard planner. Everything fits into its three notebooks. Really, everything, everything you might need.
Apart from its size (something a little more slender than a B6), it is identical to the Jibun Techo White First Kit 2022. It has the same number of pages, the same 3mm grid base, the same raffish 52gsm THIN paper (for the DIARY and NOTE sections) and 60gsm MIO paper (LIFE section). The typography is, however, a little smaller, but the essential content and design is the same.
Packed into the Jibun Techo Mini White – First Kit 2022 are the three main notebooks of the Jibun Techo system.
First and foremost is the DIARY, which largely is composed of a weekly vertical diary with space to plan by the hour, to note the times of sunrise and sunset, to track your moods, meals, habits, the weather. It’s practical for planning in advance, but also for reflecting on the days you’ve passed (in the way it collapses time to go forwards and backwards, it resembles a bullet journal). The weekly vertical agenda lasts 14 months, from November 2021 to January 2023. There are also sections which display 2022 by month: one for project planning and one as a calendar, running from November 2021 to April 2023 and March 2023 respectively. And besides this, there are the lists: for gifts, for dreams, for financial plans, for your favourite catchphrases.
Next to the DIARY is LIFE. Intended to have a more permanent position in the Jibun Techo than the 2020 agenda, life has space for birthdays, phone numbers, and life plans. Its most curious feature is a place to log your life’s news: a sort of précis of a month or year, where you might add, ‘When I was 25, I learnt to rollerskate’ (for example). LIFE’s thicker, more premium-feeling paper gives it a bit of extra longevity (significant for a travelling notebook like this). On the far side of DIARY is NOTE, an 80 page grid memo book that integrates with Kokuyo’s CAMI App, allowing you to back up your notebooks with Google Drive or Dropbox, amongst others. Both LIFE and NOTE are tucked into the durable plastic cover of the Jibun Techo, and like the DIARY, are able to be removed and replaced the moment they’re full (you might be waiting a while for LIFE, though!)
This Standard Jibun Techo First Kit comes with a white plastic cover. It is also available in regular size, as well as a business edition in regular and mini.

Ask a Japanese person and chances are he or she has used a Kokuyo Campus notebook throughout his student years. In this Kokuyo is a big name, but it goes beyond this. Kokuyo was founded in 1905, soon becoming the industry leader in paper products (from account books to letter paper, forms and notebooks). In 1960 Kokuyo has ventured into a transition "from paper to metal", producing their first filing cabinet. With the economy of that day and age (increasing complexity of administration x economic growth), there was a growing demand for know-how (filing systems) and office supplies (paper products) to manage the ever-mounting pile of paperwork effectively.
Kokuyo x Misc-store Amsterdam
Imagine an Office Depot catalogue, ranging from office supplies, filing system to facility management. Think of the total number of brands and suppliers in this Office Depot catalogue. Kokuyo's Catalogue is exactly this, but all items fall under their own brand. The product range is huge.
Here in Amsterdam, we flicked through the pages of this catalogue, in awe of its magnitude, smiled by some smart office solution and stationery items and surprised by the variety of products. From this catalogue, the Think of Things selection in their Harajuku, Tokyo store, and the Kokuyo Design Awards, we realized Kokuyo is true to its heritage, but also constantly thinking and moving forward.
At Misc-store, both in our Amsterdam shop as online, we proudly carry some of Kokuyo's earlier steel desk items. The designs have not changed since their product launch. We also carry their famed Campus notebooks and some of their contest to market entries form their Kokuyo Design Award, such as the beetle tip marker and the Kadokeshi Eraser.
