Postalco Bridge Bags are made of a single layer of fabric supported by series of webbing straps based on the structure of suspension bridges. Inspired by the way that a bridge divides and balances weight Postalco made these lightweight bags that show their structure.
The lightweight architectural strength of the Postalco Bridge Bags is combined with the original Hammer Nylon fabric that is named for its almost hammered looking surface and it is handmade in small batches in Japan. The fabric feels natural but it has the strength and water resistance of nylon. It stands up on its own, like a densely woven canvas, but without the weight.
Due to the six webbing straps and the vegetable tanned cowhide leather handles, the bag is very comfortable to carry around. The bag keeps in shape and the weight in balance even when carrying a full load of books. No more groping in the dark for your small goods that lay somewhere on the bottom of your bag but a fast overview due to the upright edges.
This A3 size can perfectly be used as a shopper. Ideal for everyday use, a stroll around the city or while traveling the world. It can hold A3 papers and it will fit under an airplane seat.

About Postalco
You detect something of a quest for perfection in Postalco’s work. A sliver of imagination that sticks itself into something not quite good enough and prises it open, revealing new territories within.
Postalco’s very first project began in just such an inquisitive way. Bag designer Mike Abelson found the bag of his partner, graphic designer Yuri Abelson, stuffed with awkwardly bent papers from her work. He set about making a better carry case for her papers, which resulted in the Postalco legal envelope. Soon enough, they packed their bags and swapped New York for Tokyo, in order to be closer to the artisans responsible for crafting their distinctive products.
Postalco products are often materially dependant, reflecting a precise history of the leather, brass, cotton and fabric with which they were made. We were drawn to these objects from the moment we saw them. From the moment we began stocking Postalco in 2010, we found the Ableson’s work special – touching in its desire for longevity and engaging in its aesthetic sensibility.
