The Futagami Stationery Tray L can be used as a catch-all to keep business cards, keys, receipts, or anything from your pockets. It also holds jewelry and watches beautifully on a cabinet or dresser.
We love this type of surface, which deepens gradually into a warmer tone of brass. The upper face of the tray has a so-called IHADA-finish: a crude casting surface.
The tray gradually changes its colour over the course of years due to oxidization. The longer it is used, the richer and subtler it becomes.
The Futagami Stationery Tray L is part of a set of 3, at Misc Store we also carry the medium (for business cards, notes) and the small size (for tiny items on the desk, such as clips).

Futagami was launched as a brass livingware brand in the city of Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, Japan, back in 1897. Brass has long been used in various fields such as metal fittings for architecture, ships, and furniture as it has corrosion resistance property and moderate workability. It has a long history as a material for arts and crafts or Buddhist altar equipment as its texture is gentle with an elegant luster. Brass products gradually change their color over the course of many years due to oxidization. The longer they are used, the richer and subtler they become, naturally blending with the human heart and the environment. Enjoy this loving, brass livingware for many years to come.
About Futagami

Futagami's brass objects are untreated, meaning that it reacts quickly to the oils of your skin when you touch it. This means that the way the light glints off of, say, a paperweight, will be different when you first take it out of the box to the tenth time you move it across the table, to the hundredth time, to the thousandth time. It’s a continually evolving process, meaning the beauty it bears now is only one stage of its life.
Hyper-dense objects, like brass paperweights, remind you of what’s real when they sit in the palm of your hand. While most of our world is getting smaller and lighter, heavy metals pin you into place with their gravity. This is something that the designers and craftsmen at Futagami know well: before it was a lifestyle brand, Futagami was a manufacturer of Buddhist devotional objects.
If there’s a visceral part of Futagami's products that can’t be shown in a photograph, it’s their weight: a reminder of their reality. Buying one of their sand-cast bronze pieces is not just a purchase for today, but a purchase for decades from now, when its true beauty — unique to you after years of use — will be revealed.
We’re enamoured with Futagami, and are proud to stock them in our online shop, as well as at our store in Amsterdam.
