For Traveler's Company first brass limited edition series they pay hommage to the manufacturing settings in Japan. A lot of factories have machinery and shelving systems made in a particular green color. A color that changes its hue over the years, and picking up scratches and dents along the years. So why was green such a recurring color in manufacturing? This color was used on floors, doors and shelves because it’s easy on the eye and evokes a sense of safety that provides peace of mind.
When you visit the Traveler's Company factory in Nagerayama, you can see the green floor, shelves and doors have faded and even peeled in places, but this, too, is a point of pride—those flaws are the result of decades of use and represent a long history of producing TRAVELER’S notebooks and many other paper products, working diligently day after day.
At the factory where the brass products are made, oil has darkened those green machines during their years of use, but they have a beauty that is difficult to put into words.
The Factory Green limited edition is an hommage to the machinery that build them, and that the color may change its hue over time, with use.
At misc-store we visited both the brass factory in the outskirts on Tokyo and the Nagareyama factory. We can't wait to see our Factory Green writing tool change into the green color we have seen there.
During ISOT in 2006, the leading stationery show in Japan, Midori developed the idea of TRAVELER’S notebook. Ten years later marks its anniversary and the foundation of TRAVELER’S Company, a new umbrella company next to Midori that holds everything we love and related to TRAVELER’S notebook. The product ranges of BRASS, KRAFT, Spiral Ring Notebook and TRAVELER’S notebook are now part of TRAVELER’S Company.

The TRAVELER'S Company collection is as deep as it is thought-out. While many designers are content to offer just a few simple solutions, TRAVELER’S Company provides a whole suite. A TRAVELER’S Notebook lets you discover what is useful to your own life. Every detail, from the paper production to the dyeing of the leather, has been considered to ensure the elegance and durability of your notebook.
A feel for the material
TRAVELER’S Company works with just a handful of different materials: leather, brass, and paper. If given the proper care, both brass and leather will age and become more beautiful through use. The paper is elegant and sturdy, and resists feathering and distortion from ink.
We were the first store outside of Japan to stock TRAVELER’S Notebook, and we’re proud to be the home of TRAVELER’S Company in the Netherlands. Come and visit our store to see the full collection of TRAVELER’S Notebook in Amsterdam, or buy TRAVELER’S Notebook online.
What's the difference between Midori and TRAVELER'S Company?
In 2015, TRAVELER’S Company was devolved from their parent company, Midori, so that TRAVELER’S Notebook fans around the world can find the notebooks that they were looking for more easily. Midori notebooks, the everyday notebooks made with high-quality Japanese paper, are available here.
